Do-It-Yourself SEM Advice For SMBs – Recommended Reading
David Mihm writes this article at Search Engine Land on “Do-It-Yourself SEO Advice For SMBs“. David takes us through a few steps that show that your average Small to Medium Business can do something to market themselves on-line. As David says,
“Many SMBs, however, simply have a “Do-It-Yourself’ mindset. It’s that mindset that encouraged many owners to go into business for themselves, and there are plenty of examples of business owners who simply have a knack for marketing themselves online.”
This statement is very true, and therefore I recommend this article as I too am a SMB. David take us through the following steps:
- Take a few hours to learn the basics of search marketing
- Learn what your customers are searching for
- Create a web presence
- Submit your business to the local search engines
- Track and analyze your results
- Get social
- Stay informed about best practices in small business and local SEO
One thing all of this comes down to however is whether you have both the time and the interest in doing all of this for yourself. If not, then it may be more beneficial to hire someone to do the work for you. That decision is of course up to you.
