When Should I Implement Search Engine Optimization?

Customers are often misinformed by Website design companies who do not offer or specialize in Search Engine Optimization (SEO), that SEO is either not needed or only implemented after the website is built. This can become a major problem.

The best time to implement Search Engine Optimization is in the early stages of website design. Since the coding of a website has a large effect on how a website may be interpreted by search engines, considering SEO in these early stages may save you a tremendous amount of money. We often see clients who have had there website build by a company not specializing in SEO, only to come to us asking why there website is not listed in search engines. Most often, the unfortunate answer that we have to give is that the website is not coded in a code that the search engines can read and therefore it must be recoded. Basically, this is like building the website from scratch. This is a big headache for us as we need to educate the client to help them understand why this is the case. Already from the get go, the client is doubting our expertise due to our harsh recommendations. Unfortunately this is often the way it is and we just have to get on with it.

So the answer to the question, “When should I implement Search Engine Optimization?” is most definitely during the design process of your website build.

If you already have an existing website, then of course this is not an option, however if the changes needed for your website are extreme (ed re-coding of website required), then it may be the perfect opportunity for you to re-design your website. If your existing website is coded in such a way that it does not require many changes to the coding used, then you may wish to leave the existing design as it is.

So whatever you decide to do, I strongly recommend you to choose a company who specializes in Search Engine Optimization, and can therefore give you the correct advice as to what are the best options for you. Visit our website for more information on our Search Engine Optimization services.
